Designers of what, when and why?
TUE, 21 MAR 2017
Palazzo della Triennale
The world is in the hands of the digital revolution. Connectedness has accelerated the pace of change; Big Data is providing world-wide information; A.I. is more than ready to be harnessed; and alongside Sustainability is labelled as the new black. All influencers that defines key features of today’s life, and increasingly of the future.
Design is no lesser game changer – or it has potential: Design is ubiquitous. If you live in a city, you cannot exist without getting impacted by the powers of design. Everything around us is designed and by the virtue of its omnipresence design has come to occupy a very critical place in our lives.
If that is so, then the designers’ role has significantly shifted and enriched its focus. With that comes the opportunity to change or add directions, and for design to become a key influencer.
This event, Designers of what, when and why?, focuses on the direction and roles that designers will have in our near future.
John Thackara, a well-known design thinker, will lead a discussion between Alice Rawsthorn, Arthur Huang, Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino, Brooke Roberts-Islam, Cristiano Seganfreddo together representing all areas of design through technologies, experiences, fashion and business.
The panel will be indirectly in dialogue with composer Giuseppe Ielasi, whose sounds embody the philosophy of musique concrète, which has been long forgotten in the world of design.
Designers of what, when and why? is presented by Domus Academy, and is an evolution of Domus Academy Metaphysical Club including diverse internationally known representatives of design in its broadest sense.
