Muta Imago
February 28 – 29, 2024
Running time 75’
Why remember? This is the question that opens Three Sisters by Chekhov, revisited by Muta Imago in a fascinating and visually powerful work. In their rewriting of the play, the company stages the life of the three main characters and their desire to make their home a place that remains untouched by the passing of time. Entirely alone in a suspended dimension, the sisters relive moments, places and situations that have left a mark in their lives, from the death of their father to the war, from their love encounters to the specters of the past. They dress themselves in memories and reflect on the relationship between time and identity.
Muta Imago is a theater company born in Rome in 2006. It is led by Claudia Sorace, director, and Riccardo Fazi, dramaturg and sound artist. The company explores various art forms, from theatre to performance, from music theatre to opera to installations, with the aim of investigating the relationship between human beings, their time, and their feelings in the best possible way. Muta Imago's shows are hosted and co-produced by the most important national and international festivals. In addition to the production of the shows, Muta Imago supports an intense educational, training, and research activity. In 2022, the company won the Premio Ubu for best sound project and best male actor for the show Ashes. In the three-year period 2020-2022, Muta Imago was the resident company of Oceano Indiano, a project by Teatro di Roma - Teatro Nazionale. In december 2023 inaugurated at the Centre Pompidou in Paris the installation Bar Luna designed together with director Alice Rohrwacher.
