Triennale di Milano
DESIGNThe municipality of Milan, the Council Department for Productive Activities, Politecnico Milano and Triennale Milano in cooperation with the events’ agency I-Living, are glad to present on the occasion of the “Salone del Mobile 2010” (14-19 April) the ideas’ competition “Design Camping” on the subjects of sustainable hospitality and the development of city’s spaces.
An articulated program of seminars and workshops, edited by the INDACO Department of Politecnico Milano, faced last year with some designers such as Aldo Cibic, Peter Di Sabatino, Massimo Duroni and Paola Trapani, two greatly topical themes: the reception, for the devising of state-of-the-art models of temporary hospitality, and urban agriculture, for the promoting of green areas intended for the creation of market gardens.
As a conclusion of 2009 preparatory events and on the occasion of the 2010 edition of Salone del Mobile, the project Milan Design Camping 2010 calls for young creative students and professional people and invite them to confront with the concept of ‘urban camping’ thanks to an International competition for the creation of a camping site right in the heart of Milan. The competition’s subject arises from the consideration of the changes in progress within the house and the hospitality concepts, and invites people to think about a completely new concept of metropolitan camping, meant as a place able to put together different facilities to welcome visitors, provided with all comforts and adjustable according to users’ needs.
Aim of the initiative: the improvement of the reception capability of a big city like Milan in view of the great transformation design of Expo 2015.
Participants are proposed three issues to work on:
- the design of a temporary house capsule: an essential host cell
- the combination of one or more capsules: a modifiability hypothesis of the basic cell by combining it with a similar one
- the devising of common areas: a study of the internal organization of furniture and any other accessory
