The exhibition is the result of a cycle of meetings on the climate system of the river Po basin that go under the name of “Studiare il futuro già accaduto” (Studying the future that already happened) with the aim of fostering a shared reflection among different fields of knowledge: on nature and mankind, on a local and global scale, across generations.

On the occasion of the XXI Triennale di Milano International Exposition Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci houses the exhibition Confluence.

The opening section of the exhibition is dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, to his interest in land and water, and to his unified understanding of knowledge.
An installation that runs through the entire exhibition advocates the idea that everything in the world is connected and that each of us is part of a complex network of relationships.
The Po’ basin is reproduced on a large scale model immersed in a fascinating atmosphere that invites visitors to discover the key features of this area and the complexity of integrated planning.
The hydrosphere, atmosphere, geosphere, biosphere and anthroposphere allow visitors to explore the climate system.
Knowledge is represented through historical and contemporary items: maps, objects, documents and art works.
The idea of the Project to build a “toolbox” on knowledge continues in the exhibition thanks to the personal contribution that visitors can leave at the end of their visit.
In a physical forum the Museum hosts meetings, debates and performances.
With this project and exhibition the Museum explores new ways in which it can offer itself as a meeting place to work collaboratively on major contemporary issues. At the same time the Museum returns to the idea of cultural unity that inspired its foundation.

The Project was conceived by the Museum in collaboration with the Autorità di bacino (Basin Authority),  the Università degli Studi di Milano and the Università Milano Bicocca.
