Andy Rocchelli and Andrey Mironov’s Ucraine4 MAY - 7 MAY 2017
(Italiano) Andy Rocchelli viene ucciso il 24 maggio 2014 insieme ad Andrej Mironov mentre documentavano la guerra in Ucraina. La mostra rende pubbliche alcune immagini recentemente trovate nella macchina fotografica usata da Andy Rocchelli.24th of May 2014, Andreevka, Under attack
In the afternoon of the 24th of May, travelling in a civilian taxi, Andy Rocchelli, Andrey Mironov and the photographer William Roguelon arrived in the suburb of Andreevka, where they took a few photographs before coming under fire from Kalashnikovs and mortars. They took refuge in a three-metre-deep ditch. The mortar attacks resumed with increased intensity.
Roguelon and the taxi driver were wounded but survived, while there is no news of a fifth unidentified man who had also taken refuge in the ditch and was photographed by Andy. The taxi was riddled with bullets.
Andy Rocchelli continued to take photographs under fire for more than 15 minutes until he was killed. Andrey Mironov, standing next to him, was also killed.© 2016 La Triennale di Milano – All Rights Reserved
