La Lettura
The Colour of Words
Art illustrations through the Cultural Supplement of Corriere della Sera16 NOV - 3 DEC 2017
The exhibition focuses on the role played by illustration in the language of journalism and aims to spotlight the drawings published in «la Lettura», the cultural supplement of «Corriere della Sera», starting from its first issue on 13 November 2011.The show brings together more than thousand drawings conceived to accompany and enhance the texts of the articles. “La Lettura” gave young illustrators an opportunity to practice their own style and hosted contributions from significant artists such as Mimmo Paladino, Art Spiegelman, Dario Fo, Emilio Isgrò, Velasco Vitali and so many others over the last six years. Original artworks by Bruno Munari, Walter Molino, Umberto Brunelleschi, Enrico Sacchetti and Bruna Mateldi Moretti (better known under the alias “Brunetta”) – which appeared in the historic “Lettura” in the early 1900s – are located in the middle of the art-space.
