The exhibition shows the importance of the last 25 years of architecture in Europe based on the data from the archive gathered by the Mies van der Rohe Foundation in Barcelona

The installation presents a selection of 150 models and a visualization of the almost 3,000 proposals that conform the 25 years of awards, representing a curate selection of the best works of architecture. The concept pretends to emphasize the number, quantity and quality of the overwhelming data. Playing with the idea that the data, not subdued to the construction of the historical discourse, is free for any kind of reading or elaboration. The visitors, according to their choices and movements, can make their own readings and interpretations.

An open debate on contemporary European architecture brings together 16 videos under the title European Identity – Made in Europe and the interviews to the Prize Winners and the Emerging Architect Winners since 1988. The first group of videos asks 16 architecture teams from 16 European cities if there is a European identity. It is not looking for a single answer but rather an ongoing reflection that will help us understand what Europe is, what distinguishes us, what unites us, what makes us different and how architecture contributes to it. It pursues the existence of “European-ness” in architecture: the urban reality of Europe creates a unique way of understanding architecture, which upholds different identities and realities, but no matter how diverse, they are all purely European.
