NUB New Urban Body
Experience of Urban Generation

24 NOV 2017 - 14 JAN 2018

Tuesday - Sunday
10.30 am - 8.30 pm
Palazzo della Triennale
The current evolution in the ways in which people live, work, get together and use services is having a positive impact on the transformation of the city. More and more frequently we are finding ourselves face to face with multifunctional urban bodies that are able to respond in a flexible and adaptable way to our need to construct and manage our own daily program.

Let us consider the various places in which we find ourselves working and producing (in the office, at home, in a café, in someone else’s office between one meeting and another); let’s observe how our family time is organised inside a well-structured framework that involves neighbourhood and family networks, public and private spaces. The evolution in these ways of living corresponds to a different way of utilisation of spaces and of organisation of time. Space is an important infrastructure in the response to these new needs because it physically represents the social network and, as such, needs to be designed.

These hybrid spaces represent a fast-growing design area, an opportunity for urban development and regeneration: they are spaces that are inhabited by people who are very different from each other, and which are used almost around the clock and which are brought to life by a wide range of activities that go from working to living, from getting together to having fun. This exhibition offers an interactive tour through the presentation of a selection of significant interventions that have been realised all over the world and which illustrate these new realities.

The interactive tour guides the visitor through a simulated design experience that intends to offer participants the possibility to come face to face with the creation and implementation of their own personal complex hybrid project, in part by applying and drawing inspiration from the contents presented in the various sections of the exhibition, and in part by listening to and following one’s own sensations and knowledge.
