Daniele Cortesi and his puppets are back at Triennale Teatro dell’Arte with two additional, unmissable shows.

Author of fairy tales and comedies, puppetmaker and scenographer, Daniele Cortesi has contributed to the continuation of the historical tradition of puppetry and to its revitalisation over the years.
The show Gioppino e il mistero del castello tells the story of a mysterious character roaming around the rooms of King Gustav’s castle, who casts a powerful spell on Princess Letizia. Prince Amedeo steps in to save her, but suffers the same fate. As always, it will be the brave Gioppino to bring happiness back to the castle.

Daniele Cortesi (Caravaggio, Bergamo, 1955) graduated in 1974. Between 1979 and 1981 he attended the puppetry school of Teatro Verdi, Milan. Between 1979 and 1982 he worked as puppeteer for Teatro del Buratto, Milan. In 1982 he started his professional activity as a puppeteer, which he inherited from his Master, Benedetto Ravasio. He has led training courses for teachers and educators and puppetry workshops for children and young people. Between 1991 and 1997 he became one of Bergamo’s five artistic directors and was in charge of the national platform Arrivano in Piazza! In 1996 he was awarded the national puppetry price “Burattinai Campogalliani d’Oro”. Five of his works have been shortlisted by the Lombardy Region among the best Youth Theatre proposals. In 2007 and 2010 he presented his shows in New York, at New York University and at the Italian School G. Marconi. In 2009 he directed, alongside Francesco Bellotto, artistic director of Teatro Donizetti, Bergamo, the puppet show Nemorino tenore e burattino. Since 2011 he has been a researcher for Lombardy’s Ethnographic Archives.
