Guerrilla questions the future of the young generations, reflecting on the tensions that plague Europe: subversive thoughts inside a comfort zone.

Strobe lights and loud music are used during this performance.

El Conde de Torrefiel is one of the revelations of the last few years. In Milan for the first time, the Spanish collective stages Guerrilla, a work which portrays everyday-life moments: a tai chi class, a conference and an electronic music gig.
The battle the title refers to is not acted out on stage; it is transferred to the minds of the performers. Guerrilla questions the future of the young generations, reflecting on the tensions that plague Europe: subversive thoughts inside a comfort zone. If everything happens in an apparent state of peace, which gives us a sense of security, why do we subconsciously invoke war inside our heads?
Repressed impulses, disturbing images which explode deep down in our souls and give rise to a guerrilla which overwhelms the spectators. The project is based on the collaboration between the company and the participants. The script combines fiction writing and interviews with people who share the same time and the same space – in this case, the city of Milan.

El Conde de Torrefiel is a company founded in Barcelona in 2010 by Pablo Gisbert (born in 1982 in Spain) and Tanya Beyeler (born in 1980 in Switzerland). They both studied theatre and philosophy but soon found an interest in music and contemporary dance. In 2010, they presented La historia del rey vencido por el aburrimiento while in the following years they created the performances Observen cómo el cansancio derrota al pensamiento (2011), Escenas para una conversación después del visionado de una película de Michael Haneke (2012), La chica de la agencia de viajes nos dijo que había piscina en el apartamento (2013), La posibilidad que desaparece frente al paisaje (2015) and Guerrilla (2015). Their work is based on a particular aesthetic where theatre, choreography, literature and visual arts coexist. The starting point of the performances is an analysis of the present and of the possibilities of the contemporary society. The performances of El Conde de Torrefiel have been presented in major festivals in Europe such as Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, Festival d’Automne in Paris, steirischer herbst in Graz and Dublin Theater Festival as well as in Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay and Brazil.
