A saxophonist, a flautist, an enthralling solo performer with ancient instruments such as the duduk and the launeddas, as well as a rousing Bass in the traditional Canto a Tenore, Gavino Murgia is a Sardinian giant who like few others is able to blend African-American sounds with the deep musical roots of his native island. A successful jazz career has led him to collaborate with several of the best artists; but his own Blast Quartet, including Mauro Ottolini, Aldo Vigorito and Luca Colussi, is the perfect expressive vessel for his unique talent, a deeply personal and explosive mixture of contemporary and primitive sounds, from metropolitan jazz to neolithic vibes.
