“A show that seems legendary, because it is.” The New York Times
A collaboration between the celebrated performance enterprise Nature Theaterof Oklahoma and the dancers of EnKnapGroup, Slovenia’s world-renowned contemporary dance company. Pursuit of Happiness revisits the myth of the American dream to reflect on the concept of happiness. What is happiness, the unalienable right defended in the Declaration of Independence of the United States? Into what dark corner do we chase it? With earnestness, the creators of the New York-based group explode theatrical conventions in a performance that shows off the versatility of the EnKnapGroup dancers. An extravagant Western with a unique and surprising dramaturgy, featuring a Mexican barman, an Austrian sales rep, a trip to Baghdad and a modern-day magic potion.
Nature Theater of Oklahoma, whose name is taken from Kafka’s novel Amerika, is one of the most interesting companies of the Off-Off Broadway scene of New York.
