The Swedish duo of the sisters Johanna and Klara Soderberg returns in Italy with ‘Ruins‘, an intimate and deep album that speaks of love, loss, separation, brotherhood. Originally from Enskede, a northern suburb of Stockholm, the Soderbergs began writing music in 2007 and in 2010 they released their first album characterized by a strong harmony, the love for rock folk of the 60s and 70s and the taste, typically Swedish, for the melody. After three years since the last record, Johanna and Klara return with their style, but with a renewed awareness. This last work is ispired from the melancholy of a sentimental break that moved Klara, an emotion that leaves without anchors, questioning her purpose, her world, herself. Overall, it is a reference to the traditions of the classic folk rock sound, a genre that First Aid Kit have already proposed in Stay Gold (2014) and in the previous Wichita The Big Black And The Blue (2010) and The Lion’s Roar (2012 ). The difference is their experiences, and the results are intense. They are no longer slaves to their ancestors, but now they can really comunicate the pain and desire perceived in the works of their heroes (Gram Parsons, Townes Van Zandt, Johnny and June). An interesting evolution that demonstrates a more mature and courageous writing and refined and engaging developments.
