II string Quartet Morton Feldman

Quartetto d'archi di Torino
May 4 2024, 6.00pm
Running time 6 hours (it is possible to enter and leave the venue freely)
One of the most exciting ensembles of the contemporary scene presents at FOG a performance that stands out among all kinds of concerts. II String Quartet by Morton Feldman, composed in 1983, is an iconic piece of contemporary music, a challenge for the listener but even more so for the musician. Quartetto d'Archi di Torino is one of the very few ensembles in the world who plays this piece in its entirety, for a total duration of six hours, during which the audience will be taken on a monumental and minimalist journey, where music gradually becomes part of the environment and time is suspended in hypnotic variations. A unique experience, a door from which to observe and listen to infinity.
Born in 1990 thanks to Piero Farulli, Andrea Nannoni, Milan Skampa, and György Kurtág, today is composed of Umberto Fantini, Manuel Zigante, Edoardo De Angelis and Andrea Repetto. Quartetto d'archi di Torino performs today in the most important concert seasons and international festivals, and its interpretations are regularly broadcast in Italy and abroad. Its popularity with the general public is attributed to the creation of the soundtrack for Gabriele Salvatores' film Io non ho paura (I’m not Scared) in 2002, composed by Ezio Bosso, and collaborations with important Italian singer-songwriters such as Vinicio Capossela and Dario Brunori.
