The history of design is also a history of culture, in which each everyday item is decoded within the complex and often nonlinear evolution of taste, consumers’ habits and the industrial sector. Enrico Morteo offers a wide overview, taking the reader on a journey from the mid-Nineteenth century to modern day and identifying the trends of tomorrow. Set in both a chronological and geographical framework, the book’s over 200 double thematic pages examine as many topics in a constant dialogue between Europe, the United States and the emerging players in the Far East. 600 objects examined, including product design, home and office furniture and accessories, car design, technological design, as well as foodstuffs, packaging and clothes, from the universally iconic to the everyday. For design buffs, forreaders of the previous edition now out of stock.
