JAZZMI is in its 4th year! Milan’s jazz festival is back between 1 and 10 November 2019 to showcase the countless forms of this iconic musical genre of the 20thcentury, in its ongoing reinventions and contaminations with the future. As in previous years, the focal point of the festival will be Triennale Milano Teatro, which will host high-pro le artists such as Mingus Big Band, Enrico Rava, Kenny Barron, Melanie De Biasio, Kassa Overall, Nubya Garcia, Fabrizio Bosso and Giovanni Guidi, Melissa Laveaux, Delvon Lamarr, Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin, Rymden, Uomini in Frac, Gianluigi Trovesi and Gianni Coscia, Ambrose Akinmusire Quartet and Patrizio Fariselli.
JAZZMI is a project by Triennale Milano Teatro and Ponderosa Music & Art, in collaboration with Blue Note Milano.

Mingus Big Band

The musical legacy of Charles Mingus, who left an unfillable void in the history of jazz, is still immense, even forty years after his death. One of the greatest jazz bassists of the twentieth century, he created music that broke with tradition, shattered the norms and found true coherence in its constant contradiction.

Artchipel Orchestra e Orchestra di via Padova

November 1 2019
Artchipel and the Orchestra di via Padova, conducted by Ferdinando Faraò and Massimo Latronico respectively, present Batik, a project inspired by and completely devoted to African music. These two Milanese orchestras will mingle their respective histories to create a unique score, joining together their musicians form one great ensemble.

Guido Manusardi

November 2 2019
A master of swing who inspired whole generations of musicians, Guido Manusardi, among the highest examples of contemporary European piano music who played with legends such as Johnny Griffin, Slide Hampton, Red Mitchell e Dexter Gordon, will perform in a duo with Magatelli at the double bass. Manusardi’s concerts are a perfect blend of experience, passion, curiosity, swing, creativity and respect for tradition.

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio

Delvon Lamarr, who is one of the world's finest organists, manages to combine a wide range of different inspirations in his music: from soul to jazz, to R&B and funk. In 2015, Delvon went from a solo act to a three-player line-up: a soul-jazz group that, with its brilliant groove and vibrant jam-session atmosphere, has topped all the charts.
